Chapter 1

Response question:  In the first chapter, Enzo says: "It's what's inside that's important. The soul. And my soul is very human."

How does Enzo's situation—a human soul trapped in a dog's body—influence his opinions about what he sees around him?

How do you feel about the ideas of reincarnation and karma as Enzo defines them?

  3. Enzo's situation-a human soul trapped in a dog's body-influences his opinions about what he sees around him by the way he acts and cares about the people that he loves. In the story he says, "I will protect Zoe even if I risk my life." This example shows how his situation causes him to act in a human way. Enzo also wishes he could talk. He knows how to help fix the problems but he can't help because he can't talk. This example shows how he cares about the people he loves because he really wants to help.
